Momentive Performance Materials, a high-performance silicones and specialties company, has announced plans to open a Global Innovation Center.

It will feature a modern R&D laboratory and office space designed to foster stronger collaboration and exchange of ideas, as well as the development of trend-focused, innovative solutions to support the growing Performance Additives business.

John Nicholson, global technology leader, performance additives, said that he also sees Momentive’s new GIC as a vibrant hub of scientific discovery and materials innovation, contributing to enhanced product performance across a broad range of industry applications for the agricultural, paint & coatings, and beauty and personal care markets, which, he said, “will help meet the demand for high-performing, practical solutions for a sustainable world.”

As a result, it will move north from its current Tarrytown, New York location outside of New York City to near the state capital Albany in Niskayuna.

“I’m very excited to welcome the Momentive team to the Hudson Valley iCampus,” said Jamie Schwartz, President of Hudson Valley iCampus. “Neighbours include Pfizer Inc., RK Pharma Solutions, Sanofi, and more, offering an outstanding setting for long-term growth.”

In addition, the company has announced it will relocate its headquarters from Waterford to Niskayuna. Momentive President and CEO Sam Conzone said: “This move provides an opportunity for Momentive to upgrade and expand our R&D/Technology labs to a state-of-the-art building and co-locate our teams.”

There are no plans to relocate the Waterford manufacturing site, which will remain one of Momentive’s top global production facilities.

In the UK, Techsil is an approved distributor of Momentive products.
