Visible light-curing adhesives

Henkel has launched the Loctite Indigo range of visible light-curing adhesives that can be used on clear and selected coloured substrates

The latter include translucent variations of blue, purple, grey, white, and green which normally would block out ultra-violet adhesives.

The company's marketing manager Colin Chapman, says that "the products are compatible with temperature-sensitive components including those used for medical applications. By including a fluorescent ingredient - which is visible in both cured and uncured states - immediate quality inspection and application verification are possible.

"The revolutionary technology relies solely on light in the visible spectrum to deliver all of the benefits of traditional light curing while eliminating many of the process limitations. Ranging from high viscosity to low viscosity an Indigo product is available for a variety of gap-fill requirements. With their rapid surface cure and an enhanced curing depth to 12mm the new adhesives are suitable for bonding, potting, and coating on a variety of substrates."
