Jet Press offers its support for EV charging point manufacturers

Costa Alecrim

The government says it wants the UK to be the best place in the world to build and own an electric vehicle. Electric vehicles (EVs) and their charging points are a key part of the UK Road to Zero Strategy.

With years of experience in the automotive industry and beyond to draw upon, the Jet Press team is full of ideas that could help with EV charging point design and production.

Costa Alecrim, business development manager, sets out some of the reasons why customers choose to work with his team. “We have over 20,000 parts in stock, so more often than not we can go from an enquiry one day to delivering the next. If someone wants a part we don’t have in stock, we can source it and we source from suppliers all around the world. We can also supply CAD drawings or samples to help designers.”

However good Jet Press may be at sourcing parts, sometimes what is needed simply is not out there. The company’s design team can work with existing suppliers to develop a new part to meet a specific application. Or it may design a new part from scratch in-house. It usually goes on to use 3D printing to provide the customer with a prototype. Once the prototype is agreed, Jet Press can use its manufacturing facilities to produce metal or plastic parts.

Costa is keen to work with EV charging point manufacturers to explore the benefits of supplying more than just parts. “We have developed a range of services for our customers that I’m sure EV charging point makers will potentially benefit from. For instance, cable management will be a big part of a charging point, and we regularly supply subassemblies to customers that can significantly reduce the time to manufacture a finished product. Kitting, where we create a pack containing all the fasteners for a particular assembly process, can also save time. And on the business side, consignment stock allows customers hold stock in our warehouse, and they only have to pay for it when we deliver each batch.”
