Baker & Finnemore has successfully obtained accreditation to the internationally recognised ISO quality standard TS/16949.

Certification to this demanding standard is a requirement for manufacturers supporting the international automotive market and any other industry sector where strict control of procedures is necessary. Paul Yates, director of sales for the firm explained: "As part of our continuous improvement policy it has been our ambition to progress our quality standard from ISO9001 to the TS standard. We have to thank the team effort at the company and our many customers who have provided the drive which propelled us to achieving it." The company manufactures Starlock push on fasteners, a product used world-wide in vast quantities where there is a need to provide a fixing to a plain shaft. Baker & Finnemore saw the economic downturn coming and took some tough decisions to survive the recession. Yates commented: "2010 proved to be a significant year for our business following a very tough 2009. Towards the end of 2008, we received many indications that a recession was looming; accordingly we made the difficult call to cut cost early and keep them there through 2009 and 2010. We have reaped the benefits of our foresight throughout 2010 and these will carry through into 2011." The company's management has also recognised the importance and benefits of protecting the environment and have successfully obtained accreditation to the environmental standard ISO14001.
