Established in 1921, Scott Bader is now a Euro 227 million global chemical company, employing over 650 people worldwide, with manufacturing sites located around the world including Europe, The Middle East, India, South Africa, Canada and South America.

Following a strategic business evaluation, and as part of its 10 year growth plan, Scott Bader has invested significantly in R&D to support its global expansion. The Adhesives portfolio of products in particular, is just one example of an area which has seen a significant advancement in its technological offering, as a result of the R&D investment.Such advancements have led to the successful development of Crestabond®, a range of market leading primer-less structural adhesives, which have been designed for bonding a wide range of dissimilar substrates including metals and plastics as well as composite materials for industrial applications.

Crestabond is a patented methylmethacrylate adhesive with excellent adhesive properties being successfully used by many UK and global manufacturing companies operating in the marine, wind energy, building and construction, land transportation and vehicles industries.

Last month at the JEC World Composites Show 2016, in Paris Nord Villepinte, Scott Bader promoted for the very first time its latest addition to the Crestabond range - Crestabond® PP-04. Crestabond PP-04 is a new 1:1 adhesive with a working time of four minutes, developed for bonding polypropylene (PP), polyethylene (PE) and other low surface energy thermoplastics.

Additionally, Scott Bader also introduced its newest primer-less structural adhesive, Crestabond® M1-02, which is now the fastest curing 10:1 ratio grade option available. M1-02 has been developed for higher volume assembly of smaller parts, which must be ready to handle in under three minutes for cost effective productivity; all grades in the Crestabond® range are suitable for bonding a wide range of metal, plastic and composite substrates. As well as the new PP-04 1:1 grade for bonding polyolefins, the 1:1 ratio black pigmented Crestabond grades for improving the bond joint aesthetics of black ABS and carbon fibre (CF) composites components, plus the DNV-GL independently approved Crestabond M1-30 and M1-60 grades for the joining of components for marine applications, were also highlighted on the stand.
