On the crest of a wave

As engineers around the world design smaller and smaller assemblies, the question becomes: “Where can I find the compact components to support my designs; to assist in reducing assembly size, weight and achieve optimum performance within design constraints?”

Smalley believes it has the answer, with its newly expanded Crest-to-Crest Wave Spring Series. The C (inches) and CM (metric) ranges now include standard sizes down to 0.188 inches and 5 mm in diameter, with special designs being available down to 0.157 inches or 4mm in diameter.

“Smalley was the originator of the Crest-to-Crest Wave Spring and set the standard when coiling springs as large as 12 ft/3.6m in diameter,” it adds. Over the past decade, Smalley's production team have concentrated on the other end of the scale to enhance their ability to produce smaller and smaller springs. “Our expanded spring series opens up possibilities for designers in the medical, electronics, computer and robotics industries, where springs could not fit before,” it adds. You can see samples of the new range on TFC’s stand at The FAST Exhibition.
