TWI offers new electron beam equipment

TWI has extended its range of support to industrial members with the installation of new electron beam welding equipment at its headquarters near Cambridge.

Commonly used within aerospace and nuclear manufacture, the CNC-controlled machine was originally purchased for use on linear accelerator cavities.

It is said to provide high precision welding with a great surface finishes and includes three different gun mounting positions, allowing a wide range of components to be addressed.

TWI technology fellow Colin Ribton explains more about the machine’s capabilities in the following video.
