The family-owned and run Bollhoff Group, which purchased Hull-based Armstrong Precision Components in 2010, has seen sales of its Helicoil threaded inserts (which are produced at Hull) treble in the last eight years, led in part by buoyant aerospace, defence and automotive markets, in which the brand remains the preferred product for an increasing number of global OEM platforms.
Concurrently, Willenhall-based Bollhoff Fastenings, established in the UK in 1985, has also seen its business base grow by 300% in the same time. The West Midlands base has been responsible for a widening portfolio of some of the best-known Bollhoff brands, which have become market leaders in their respective fields. Included in the extensive list of products available from the site are RIVNUT, ONSERT, RIVTAC, SNAPLOC, QUICKLOC, RIVSET and many more.
In a move seen as a real confidence-booster to many of the most successful UK manufacturers who rely on Bollhoff fasteners, the group is continuing to invest in both its Willenhall and Hull locations, and is seeking to expand both staff numbers and manufacturing capacity at each site to keep pace with demand.
“These are great times for Bollhoff,” said UK director and country mkanager Leigh Burgoyne. “We have established a reputation as innovators, manufacturers and suppliers providing high-tech, practical fastening solutions across all industries. Our Helicoil brand, arguably the best-known threaded insert worldwide, will continue to be produced in our Hull plant, and, since becoming part of the Bollhoff group, the company has invested significantly in new technology, ensuring that they keep at the forefront on their field.
“The diversity of the products offered within the Bollhoff range and the extensive support network afforded by the wider Bollhoff Group enables the company to maintain its position as market leader across so many sectors.”
The Bollhoff Group currently employs more than 3,000 staff worldwide and has 80 employed across its two UK sites. It was one of the first companies to be awarded ISO/TS 16949 Certification (in 2003), the highest possible standard in the automotive industry. Further, the company’s own research and development laboratory is accredited to DIN/ISO/IEC 17025, and also holds certification to DIN/ISO 14001.
