Rivet nut for thin sheet metal

The 'Urn' rivet nut, for use in thin sheet metal applications, has been introduced by Profil and will be displayed on its stand at the Fastening & Assembly Solutions Exhibition at the RAF Museum, Cosford, on 30 April.

Also to be shown will be the company's NBR stud - suitable for use in a range of metal thicknesses and as a centring or shoulder bolt; and the SBF ball pin for gas strut applications. Profil's Adrian Ellis states that cost savings of at least 30% can be achieved compared to equivalent welding processes. "In addition, the quality of the final fixing is superior to welded fasteners." The company's technology is suitable for sheet-metal components from aluminium through to high-strength steels up to 1500Mpa.
