Assembly of miniature components

A new electromechanical joining module from Kistler Instruments is suitable for manual and automated assembly of small and miniature components such as the insertion of small bearings and gear wheels into gearboxes.

Designed specifically for applications in which precise positioning and reliable repeatability are combined with small joining forces, the NCFT type 2157A is available in three options with switchable force ranges to a maximum of 0.25kN, 0.5kN, and 1kN. The integration of the piezo-electric force sensor is stated to allow each module to cover two switchable measuring ranges. The high resolution (0.5µm) combined with a stroke speed of up to 300mm/sec maintains operational precision while enabling fast joining cycles and short return strokes. A monitoring system displays the force displacement curve in real time, and a programmable analysis window allows all phases of the joining process to be evaluated on a continuous basis.
