Verfiying substances under the Reach regulations

1 min read

At the BASA Open Technical Forum, held alongside our very own FAST and IASE exhibitions at the National Motorcycle Museum last week, members queried whether they can verify that the substances they use will be registered under the Reach regulations.

BASA Consultant Desmond Waight advised that companies can now verify whether those substances, which have been identified to, and listed by, ECHA, as being required to be registered in 2010, have already been registered as either intermediate or full dossiers. Companies are now registering substances at a rapid pace and ECHA is updating the list every week. The list of identified substances for registration in 2010 can be viewed on the ECHA website: http://www.echa.europa.eu/chem_data/list_registration_2010_en.asp This should be particularly helpful for downstream users who wish to verify that their substances will be registered in time. Members should note that if a particular substance is not on this list it may be because it does not need to be registered this year. However, companies who have concerns that a substance is missing should inform ECHA. Notification of 'missing' substances can also be made to the ECHA website.
