Slip of the hook!

1 min read

Engineers are being offered the opportunity to benefit from a greater choice of rapid hanging solutions.

The invite comes as norelem expands its range of slip hooks to accommodate a wider range of lifting applications than ever before.

Manufactured in compliance with the applicable legislation surrounding work equipment and machinery, the hooks provide a safe and convenient interface between a hoist and chain or textile sling, depending on the setting. Available in various types to suit a range of environments and with accompanying hardware as standard, each model comes equipped with a high-grade forged metal safety latch, designed to prevent loads of up to 10 tonnes from slipping.

The design of the hooks ensures compatibility with chain sizes of between 6 and 16mm, helping to meet the diverse lifting requirements of a range of industrial environments. It is just one of many standard components available in the latest version of THE BIG GREEN BOOK, norelem’s reference guide for design and mechanical engineers.

Where safety is of particular concern, norelem’s range of self-locking and swivel hooks close and lock automatically under load, ensuring that they remain firmly closed during operation. Similarly, the newly-added round sling hook is ideal for rapid hoisting of textile lifting tackle such as lifting straps or round slings, while the safety aspect of the design is reinforced by the inclusion of an additional forged metal latch and rounded corners. The round sling hooks are colour co-ordinated according to the lifting capacity of the round slings, allowing for greater ease of identification.

Marcus Schneck, CEO of norelem, explained: “We provide a comprehensive range of standard components in THE BIG GREEN BOOK, which address the complex needs of demanding industrial applications. We recognise that hoisting applications continue to be an important and vital part of industry, and have updated our range accordingly. This positions us strongly to continue to meet the needs of our customers and of the wider industry as whole.”
