Sigma acquisitions lead to single brand reorganisation

A leading manufacturer of precision engineered components and fixings for the aerospace sector is reorganising its expanded capabilities under a single brand following a number of recent acquisitions.

Sigma Components forms Avingtrans PLC's aerospace division and provides airframe and power plant components in a range of traditional and composite materials to leading OEMs around the world. Following the acquisition of its composites business in February 2012, the company also acquired PFW Farnborough and Aerotech Tubes (Derby) in November, expanding its in-house manufacturing capabilities and growing its UK footprint to four sites at Hinckley, Derby, Buckingham and Farnborough. Now all Sigma companies – including its site in Chengdu, China – will now operate under the Sigma Components brand. Mark Johnson, managing director of Avingtrans' aerospace division, explained: "It has been a busy few years for the company but we're pleased with how the new businesses have assimilated into the group and the feedback from customers has been very encouraging. "By combining the capabilities and cost-structures of our UK and Chinese operations, we're now able to offer OEMs a genuine one-stop-shop for aerospace components, covering every stage of the component lifecycle from new product development through to volume production and aftermarket support. "Bringing all our businesses under a single brand is the natural next step, removing potential confusion from the marketplace and underpinning Sigma's growing reputation as the manufacturing partner of choice for aerospace OEMs."
