Typical ethyl cyanoacrylates resist up to 82°C, with special grades resisting as high as 120°C. Generally, methyl cyanoacrylates resist 90°C. Specialty allyl cyanoacrylates can resist up to 250°C; however, these require a post-cure or secondary heat cure to achieve the temperature resistance.
Instead, PERMABOND 825 is a fast-setting cyanoacrylate that bonds metals, rubbers, plastics, and more. No secondary or post-cure required to achieve temperature resistance. It is also said to tolerate stresses at high temperatures and does not require zero-gap.
The adhesive offers 2500psi (17MPa) bonds to mild steel at 25°C, and 600psi (4MPa) bonds to mild steel at 150°C.
