Innovative shear bolt has broad application base

Shear bolts have been around for a long time but now a new company specialising in security fasteners has produced a patent pending design which it claims changes the rules of manufacture.

Traditionally, shear bolts have only been available at high cost on extended lead times but the new bolts manufactured by Integrity Products of Halesowen in the West Midlands will make this a thing of the past. In addition to providing a high security permanent bolt fastening at reasonable cost, together with a greatly increased range of available sizes at much reduced lead times, will mean that Shear Bolts will now lend themselves to applications that were not before practical. Stainless Steel A2-70 is standard and the company claims that if the size exists in a socket screw, then the fastener can be supplied. "Other benefits include a controlled application torque, ensuring the bolts are tightened to the recommended level, plus the added bonus of the strength of a rolled thread product versus the traditionally made cut thread," a company spokesman suggested. Typical applications are handrails, balustrades, parapets and street furniture.
