Scott Bader is exhibiting at the Fastening & Assembly Solutions and Technology (FAST) exhibition, taking place on 27 March 2014 at the Heritage Motor Centre at Gaydon, Warwickshire where it will be showcasing its latest structural adhesive product

During the FAST exhibition Scott Bader will launch M1-04 rapid bond structural adhesive product, the latest addition to Scott Bader's Crestabond range of ready-to-use two component primer-less methacrylate structural adhesives. And in addition to the launch, a technical seminar on the latest advances in acrylic structural adhesives will be given by Dr Gavin Creech, materials technology manager for Scott Bader. Both technical and commercial representatives from Scott Bader will be available at the exhibition to discuss any needs and to answer questions. The major production benefit offered by this new grade is its shorter fixture time of only 8-10 minutes, with no loss of bonding performance properties. The product has been developed by Scott Bader to significantly increase production efficiencies, especially for high volume assembly of parts using only an adhesive, needing reliable, long term bonding performance. According to Scott Bader's test data, M1-04 will effectively bond composites, plastics, ABS, aluminium, stainless steel and many other substrates commonly used in industrial applications. The product has been extensively tested and has demonstrated excellent impact, peel, shear, compressive strength, fatigue resistance and high toughness properties in a variety of assembled parts, offering both bonding and gap filling capabilities, the company claims. This new 'rapid bond' Crestabond grade is expected to be of particular interest to automotive OEMs and tier one and tier two suppliers due to its combination of performance properties and significant productivity benefits offered; with no requirement for a substrate primer and a working time of only 3-4 minutes, assembled parts can be moved on to the next stage of production in as little as 8 minutes. This rapid bond time offers assemblers a reduction of over 40% in the maximum fixture time compared to the existing grade which has been offered by Scott Bader up until now. Information on the full range of 10:1 and 1:1 ratio Crestabond methacrylate structural adhesives offered, as well as application case studies and information about Scott Bader's established range of Crystic Crestomer urethane acrylate based structural adhesives, specifically developed for bonding FRP composites, especially for marine and building applications will also be made available during the event.
