Portfolio of safety devices simplifies choice for machine assembly

A leading US automation supplier believes it offers the broadest portfolio of machine and process safety devices, systems and services in the world.

This breadth of product offering on the market alongside the offerings of its competitors means there is an immense choice of functionality, type and technology available. By drastically simplifying the range with its versatile Next Generation Safety Relays, Rockwell Automation can deliver more tangible benefits to its customers as they select the appropriate solution. Included in the range is the Guardmaster Safety Relay (GSR) which is a single catalogue item that addresses the complex choice issues. GSR offers universal input as it supports the majority of safety components; light curtains, mats, safety switches and emergency stops. The product is claimed to have twice the functionality of a standard relay with two separate safety inputs in a 22.5mm housing. Then there is single wire safety connection – a new functionality allows the user to increase the number of outputs with a TUV approved single wire connection whilst maintaining the safety integrity at SIL3 – thereby simplifying wiring. Easy configuration is achieved as a single rotary switch in combination with the single wire connection allows And/Or functional control giving users the ability to address applications such as zonal control, maintenance functions or global/local emergency stop circuits.
