NEW PROGRAMME OF EDUCATIONAL WEBINARS CONFIRMED AT THE ENGINEERING DESIGN SHOW

Structural bonding has now become an essential method in all industrial sectors, especially where different materials have to be joined together. Almost all types of metals – steels, stainless steels and aluminium – as well as synthetic and fibre composite materials, glass and ceramics can be combined adhesively. And in this way, specific material properties can be utilised optimally for the specific component in manufacture.

Henkel is a leading innovator in this field and at this year’s Engineering Design Show the company will be demonstrating the merits of new additions to its range, in particular LOCTITE® anaerobic adhesives and TECHNOMELT® over-moulding adhesives.

The company’s stand E30 will also remind visitors that Henkel has now established a dedicated website - www.loctite-success.co.uk – to acquaint manufacturers with the significant potential that adhesive technology holds to give greater freedom in design, optimise processes and increase product reliability.

On this new microsite, visitors will find a wealth of information including details of Henkel’s free and impartial technology webinars. Indeed, building on the success of its first phase of webinars, Henkel will be confirming the details of more of these educational events in the coming weeks. So watch that space! This popular site also provides access to a large number of application videos that demonstrate the wide scope of adhesives in product design and manufacture.

One of the products that is characteristic of Henkel’s innovative approach to product development is also featured on this website. LOCTITE® 4090 is a cyanoacrylate/epoxy hybrid adhesive which provides industry with the best of both worlds; the fixture speed of an instant and the durability of an epoxy. This unique combination opens up completely new application areas for instant adhesives in structural bonding.

Another important element of the microsite is equipment. To achieve this, an optimal amount of the adhesive has to be automatically applied in the correct position and this involves the use of dedicated dispensing equipment.Indeed the quality of process and the end product is very much dependant on both the adhesive and its method of application.

Unlike many other adhesive manufacturers that subcontract the manufacture of dispensing equipment or refer the customer to a dispensing ‘partner’, Henkel develops its own standard and bespoke equipment systems. This ensures the dispensing system is designed with the benefit of an in-depth knowledge of the adhesive’s characteristics and performance.
