Adhesives and protective materials can only do their job if applied in the correct quantity and location. Coupled with the demands of higher production speed and the ever finer tolerances and repeatability required for quality, (to say nothing of the increasing miniaturisation of technology-based products) and the challenges can get tricky. Materials may have multiple parts and filler content, difficult rheology or limited working life. Deposit volumes can be fractions of a millilitre. The processes selected need to be robust, consistent and validatable.
