Instant adhesives break new ground

With successive introductions to its Loctite Health and Safety range, Henkel claims to have broken new ground.

It has become the only manufacturer to offer a comprehensive range of non-hazardous engineering adhesives that cover the lion's share of applications, the company says. The range has now been complemented by three hazard-label-free cyanoacrylates, more commonly known as instant adhesives. Clean and easy to apply, these adhesives are ideal where aesthetics are important. They are now Loctite's front-line offering for very fast positioning and fixturing of parts. Classified non-irritant, these new additions provide even more benefits than their hazard-labelled forerunners. Their ability to join a wide variety of dissimilar materials extends to the bonding of porous/acidic substrates such as wood, paper, leather and cork as well as plastics, rubber and metals. The resultant shear and tensile bond strength is excellent even on very small bond faces. These new Health and Safety instant adhesives are colourless with low bloom and low odour. All have a typical fixture time of 5 – 20 seconds dependant on the substrates. All can be integrated into semi- or fully-automated production processes for which Henkel also markets a comprehensive range of dispensing equipment.
