Fuelling growth through the application of Lean

Tim Scurlock, director of Applied Lean Consultancy (ALC), will be delivering one of the keynote seminars at the upcoming FAST LIVE Exhibition at The Imperial war Museum, Duxford, on Thursday, 20 September.

His seminar, ‘Fuelling growth in your business through the application of Lean principles’, will take place at 11.30 am.

Applying Lean helps companies to focus better on customer requirements and to eliminate waste. The results include having the right product in the right place, in the right sequence to the correct quality and at the lowest cost on a consistent and standardised basis. Lean can reduce Lead Time, WIP, reduce inventory and reduce working capital tied up in your business, enabling you to use it for growth into new areas.

With studies and examples from Manufacturing and Warehousing, this seminar will make you think again about how you run your business, confirms ALC.

DURING THIS SESSION, DELEGATES WILL LEARN:

1. Why your company’s operational processes need to change as your business grows

2. How legacy process, silo thinking and poor communication work together to stifle growth

3. In Manufacturing, Lean shortens Lead time, reduces WIP and releases working capital

4. In Warehousing and supply chain, Lean minimises handling waste and ensures the right level of inventory: not overstocked with much reduced stock-outs

5. How Lean in Operations enhances communication from top down and bottom up: challenging quality, maintenance and stock practices, whilst giving the shop floor a voice, too.

Tim Scurlock worked for 20 years with General Motors in the UK and overseas. “Working with teams to implement Lean thinking across GM gave me a grounding in Lean application across all areas of business: Finance, Logistics, HT, Warehousing, as well as the more conventional Manufacturing application,” he said.

Founded in 2011, Applied Lean Consulting (ALC) has helped manufacturing, warehousing and service businesses to increase their efficiency and become more responsive to customer needs.

ALC has worked with: Vauxhall Motors, Saab, Lohmann, Experian, Monarch, Chevrolet, Canada Life, Able systems, LCM systems, Endecotts, Marlow Ropes, and a myriad of SMEs.
