AIL (Adhesives International Limited) has been acquired by Pafra Adhesives, based in Basildon, Essex.

"The acquisition strengthens Pafra's position as a major supplier of water-based adhesives to the furniture, building, paper/board, case, and carton-converting industries", says Trevor Clarke, chief executive officer. "AIL, headquartered in Oxfordshire, will continue to operate at its current location and will remain as a separate entity as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Pafra. The former owner and managing director of AIL, Barry Brown, has been appointed as a consultant to Pafra." Trevor Clarke also has announced that the business opportunities will be integrated over the next few months and a single sales force, under the management of Guy Davis, will serve the needs of both companies. "This will help to facilitate a smooth and progressive integration of the focus of the two businesses on customers, market sectors, and new opportunities to supply a better range of products and services." The companies will continue to focus on water-borne adhesives and hot-melt adhesives and will look for opportunities "to continue in the development of new products in new market sectors".
