TOP SEMINARS YOU WON’T WANT TO MISS!

1 min read

We have some great seminars lined up for those attending The FAST Exhibition in Manchester later this month. But you will need to sign up quickly to secure your place.

You may have seen the timely reminder about the upcoming The Fast Exhibition, uploaded yesterday, which takes place on Thursday, 21 April, at The Concorde Centre at Manchester Airport. Adding extra lift-off to the event is the decision to co-locate the new Plastics Prototyping and Metals Exhibition (PPME), within the same venue, showcasing the best UK moulders, prototyping experts – both bureau and equipment providers – and shaped metal suppliers.

Making this even more of a must-attend event are the seminars lined up for the show – and there’s still time to sign up, if you hurry!

The seminar programme is as follows:

09:30 – 10:10

Maintenance free fastening with lockBolts in Civil Engineering

Dr.-Ing Hans-Albert Städler, Customer Engineering Director Europe - Alcoa Fastening Systems & Rings

In Civil Engineering, costs for fastened joints can be significantly high, especially in wind energy towers and masts as they need high service and maintenance. Traditional fastening methods have restrictions in vibration resistance, fatigue endurance and ability to keep clamp over a long period. The Huck BobTail Lockbolt offers a possibility to overcome these weaknesses. The BobTail LockBolt is vibration resistant, has constant clamp for long periods, has superior fatigue performance and eliminate potential corrosion issues. Fastened joints with these bolts are easy to design and calculate. The installation is extremely fast. The German Civil Engineering authority DIBt stated installed joints with BobTail lockbolts as ‘maintenance free’.

During this session delegates will learn:

  • Typical lockbolt application
  • Functionality of lockbolts type BobTail, advantages and benefits
  • The DIBt approval for lockbolts type BobTail and meaning
  • The behaviour of BobTail connection under fatigue load
  • Calculation of lockbolted connection in Civil Engineering with examples.

11:30 – 12:10

Enhancing Productivity with Light Curing Adhesives and Protective Materials

Peter Swanson, Managing Director – INTERTRONICS

Manufacturing in the UK is strong, but productivity remains a concern. Adhesives, coatings and protective materials which cure with light can offer significant process as well as functional improvements to an assembly. This seminar will present an overview of the technology, including how it works and example applications. It will then focus on advances which can help improve productivity, both in light curable chemistry and the curing equipment, backed up by case studies.

During this session delegates will learn:

  • How light curing works
  • Typical applications
  • New capabilities of the chemistry
  • Equipment developments, including LED based curing
  • Case studies showing productivity gains.
