Linus Rodin and Topias Karlsson are studying an MSc in Industrial Engineering and Management at KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm and their thesis will lead to more detailed development of Lesjofor’s future climate reduction plans.

Scope 1-3 analytical progression

Anna Haesert, head of sustainability, said: “This is a truly exciting project and Lesjofors are very fortunate to be the focus of the thesis. With the support of the findings, we will be able to develop a more detailed and structured climate reduction plan. The analysis of the status reports from all our sites on Scope 1, 2, and 3 progressions will help map the Lesjofors Group’s path going forward.”

Thesis scope

Preliminary research questions for the project include the identification and mapping of Lesjofors’s greenhouse gas inventory, resulting in:

Localisation of GHG hotspots

Specification of greenhouse gas calculation components

The resulting final presentation will help deliver the group’s action plan for climate-related activities, which will include identification of opportunities and obstacles for further progress towards GHG reduction targets.

Last month, Lesjofors signed an agreement to acquire India-based International Industrial Springs (IIS) in a move that increases its global footprint.

The acquisition also strengthens Lesjofors’s growth trajectory with the addition of new product capabilities.

Operating from six production plants across the Mumbai region, specialising in disc springs, washers and general springs, IIS serves a variety of domestic and international industries across the valve, energy, engineering and aerospace sector.

In addition, IIS also offers hot coiling capabilities, extending Lesjofors’s hot coiling manufacturing capabilities to three dedicated locations across Europe and India.

With approximately 230 employees, the acquisition increases the Lesjofors employee base to over 2600 worldwide.

Lesjofors CEO, Ola Tengroth, said: “IIS is our first acquisition in India and with Lesjofors sites in Singapore, China and Thailand, this marks the Lesjofors Group’s fourth entry into the Asia Pacific region, the largest spring region in the world.
