RP570 FR REEPREG is made with recycled carbon fibre nonwoven mat and has a complete processing time of five minutes at 160°C.

This material combines REEPREG’s handleability with PRF’s eXpress cure technology and is said to provide a fire retardant carbon prepreg material that reduces landfill waste, improves circularity, and is suited to high volume manufacturing (HVM).

Robert Burnell, CEO and head of product development at PRF, said: “RP570 FR REEPREG has been developed specifically with lightweighting in mind, looking at enabling recycled composite materials to be used in aircraft interior programs and other applications requiring FST properties and HVM. Through significant investment in R&D, we have developed a special methodology of impregnation to ensure that once prepregged, REEPREG is easy to handle and press from a flat sheet into a 3D shape. The development of 400gsm REEPREG also enables thickness to be built up very quickly, thereby reducing cost in these applications.”

In August, PRF Composite Materials joined the National Composites Centre as an affiliate member.

Sales director Vincent Fawcett said: “PRF has a rich history of delivering innovative solutions for advanced composites across multiple industries, which has been achieved through investment in research and development, infrastructure, and people with passion and ability. These principles and values are mirrored at the NCC, so becoming a member for PRF is a fantastic opportunity - to collaborate and share advancements in sustainable materials and processing techniques in particular. Placing advanced composites at the centre of UK manufacturing is a responsibility shared throughout this diverse industry, and by working together with the NCC and its members we look forward to achieving this.”

Earlier this year, introduced new suite of primer and adhesive films in 2024, starting with its RFA570 eXpress cure adhesive film and RF Primer.
