Runciman joins alongside Martin Oughton, who has played a role in guiding Plyable through its early development phase and building a platform to provide automated tooling design, and instant quotations. Oughton will continue to be an integral part of Plyable’s senior leadership team.
Before joining Plyable, Runciman held senior roles at Honeywell and Collins Aerospace, where he led successful aftermarket development programs.
Most recently, Runciman served as group managing director of Eminox, an automotive manufacturing company, where he led a business transformation program that grew turnover from £27 million to over £100 million.
Runciman said: “I am delighted to join the Plyable team at such an exciting and pivotal time in their growth. Plyable has delivered a much needed ‘tech moment’ to the design, procurement and manufacture of composite tools and parts and has built strong partnerships with some of the most successful businesses in Aerospace, Marine, and Automotive sectors. There is still much to be done and I look forward to working with the team to accelerate growth and deliver exceptional value to our customers, employees, and stakeholders in this next phase.”
Earlier this year, Plyable announced an integration with Authentise Threads in a move that is said to end separate mould development workflows entirely.
Traditionally, the development process has been a separate, time-consuming step in the product development lifecycle. Engineers can often face delays and inefficiencies as they navigate between different tools and platforms. However, with the new integration, engineers can now access Plyable’s features directly within Threads, allowing them to receive a composite mould design, instant quotes and timelines while collaborating with their colleagues.
“This integration greatly benefits designers and engineers by making the designing and sourcing of composite moulds as an intrinsic part of their product development process, not a time-consuming separate step. By combining Plyable’s expertise in mould development with Authentise’s powerful collaboration platform, we are empowering engineers to work more efficiently and bring their ideas to life faster,” said Martin Oughton, CEO of Plyable.
The integration is claimed to offer several benefits that will improve the mould development process:
Streamlined mould development:
Engineers can now design composite moulds, request instant quotes, and manage sourcing within Threads. This eliminates the need for separate workflows and reduces lead times, allowing teams to move from concept to production more quickly.
Enhanced collaboration:
With real-time editing, commenting, and version control, teams can work together regardless of their location or device. This enhanced collaboration fosters better communication and ensures that everyone is on the same page throughout the development process.
Improved productivity:
By reducing the time spent on mould development and communication, engineers can accelerate product development.
Seamless digital thread:
The integration contributes to a more comprehensive digital thread, connecting various stages of the product lifecycle and enabling data-driven decision-making. This digital thread ensures that all relevant information is easily accessible.
Leveraging the power of real-time collaboration
Threads has also built real-time collaboration tools from the Google Docs Suite. User’s comments in Google’s Spreadsheets, Docs, and Presentations are now visible within Authentise.
