PennEngineering has won the Design News 2011 Golden Mousetrap Award for Best Fastening, Joining and Assembly Component.

The company took top honours for PEM brand Type MSO4 self-clinching standoffs, which were introduced last year as part of a growing family of PEM micro fastener products. Winners were chosen by the magazine's editors from a record number of entries for the annual competition. PEM Type MSO4 self-clinching standoffs provide ideal hardware solutions for applications requiring spacing or stacking of components in compact electronic assemblies for devices ranging from hand-held consumer electronics to medical equipment, among others. They are manufactured from 400 Series stainless steel and engineered with threads as small as M1.0 / #00 and in lengths as short as 2mm / .080in. They can be installed into sheet metal (including 300 Series stainless steel) as thin as 0.4mm / .016in with maximum hardness up to HRB 88 on the Rockwell B scale. PennEngineering, headquartered in Danboro, PA, develops and manufactures PEM brand fasteners and operates manufacturing facilities and key sales offices in North America, Europe, and Asia. The Company is supported by a worldwide network of authorised engineering representatives and stocking distributors and is represented in the UK by Zygology.
