Stanley Black & Decker has completed the acquisition of Infastech, one of the largest global players in the specialty mechanical fastening and assembly industry.

Infastech will be merged with Emhart Teknologies to form Stanley Engineered Fastening group engaging 5,000 employees in 150 countries with over $1.4 billion in revenues. Infastech's brands including Avdel, ELCO and iForm will now be marketed under the banner of Stanley Engineered Fastening which claims to be a technology leader in industry and intends to form partnerships with its customers to deliver exclusive fastening and assembly solutions from its newly expanded product portfolio. The Avdel brand name is over 70 years old and was derived from 'Aviation Developments', the company's original name when it was founded in 1936. At that time aircraft construction was moving from metal and wood to all metal structures. This required new fasteners and tools to install them. The Chobert Speed Fastening system was developed to meet these needs and is still widely used today. An early Chobert production line is pictured.
