Free webinar goes ‘below the surface’

Diversified technology company, 3M is to host a free interactive technical webinar to help industrial users specify and get the best out of products designed for application to low surface energy substrates.

The event will take place at 1pm on Tuesday 5 July and anyone interested should register at www.3M.co.uk/adhesives. Nicky Bradley of 3M's Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division tells us that the webinar will be of interest to anyone with the requirement to bond to low surface energy materials, such as many common plastics, which are traditionally difficult to adhere to. "For an adhesive or tape to work effectively, either its surface energy must be as low as or lower than that of the substrate to be bonded, or the surface energy of the substrate must be raised," he explained. "The webinar will examine the physical and chemical issues around bonding to low surface energy substrates, discussing the different bonding options available as well as best practice in surface preparation, application and curing. "There will also be the chance for attendees to discuss their own specific applications through a live Q&A session," Bradley added.
