Earnest offers hex flange bolts with PPAP 3 certification

Earnest Machine’s line of 10.9 and 8.8 metric hex flange bolts are manufactured to DIN 6921 and are available with an automotive industry level 3 PPAP (production part approval process) certification.

A level 3 PPAP requires that all the test documentation along with samples are submitted to the customer for approval prior to supplying the product. Once a PPAP has been approved, the supplier must use the same equipment and processes to make the parts in each shipment. Any change in equipment, process, or supplier requires that a new PPAP is submitted for approval.

As far as the bolts go, both 10.9 and 8.8 grades are available in a zinc clear trivalent finish. Diameters range from M6 to M12. Hex flange bolts feature a built-in flange that eliminates the need for a separate washer. Thanks to the built-in flange, hex flange bolts work to spread the clamping load over a wider area, creating a tighter, more secure bond between the fastened components in the assembly. Hex flange bolts are also the preferred choice when fastening together metal to metal components.

The 10.9 product line has been baked to help prevent hydrogen embrittlement. Baking, also known as de-embrittlement, is a process that helps remove any atomic hydrogen that may have been introduced during the initial electroplating process. This helps the fasteners retain their ductility and prevents any hydrogen embrittlement failures from occurring within your fastened assembly.
