This investment is part of Norco’s ongoing commitment to increasing capacity and maintaining standards in composite manufacturing.

The new freezer room, installed by Cool-Tec, measures 12 metres in length, 6 metres in width, and 3.3 metres in height, and operates at a consistent temperature of -20°C. This dedicated space is said to ensure optimal storage conditions for pre-preg materials, supporting the delivery of precision-engineered composite structures for the defence and marine industries.

Earlier this year, Norco acquired a Mantech Apollo 3 Axis CNC machine to enhance the manufacturing capabilities at its CNC centre.

The Apollo 3 Axis CNC machine features a bed size of 10 x 5 feet (1600mm x 3050mm), enabling Norco to process larger sheet sizes.

According to Norco, this new machine is equipped with an eight-station tool changer, reducing the time required for manually changing cutting tools and thereby increasing the efficiency of machining larger kits.

One of the features of the Apollo CNC is its extended Z height, allowing Norco to machine materials up to 150mm thick. This capability expands the range of projects Norco can undertake, providing greater flexibility and precision in its manufacturing processes.
