Kizen Lime is described as a proprietary formulation made with a minimum of 80% renewable ingredients (with a combination of bio-based materials certified by EN 16640:2017 and bio-circular materials certified by ISCC Plus). Kizen Lime is said to provide high performances in mileage, adhesion and energy savings.
According to Bostik, Affinity RE from Dow has been instrumental in enabling Kizen Lime to reach almost 100% carbon footprint avoidance when including biogenic carbon uptake, owing to an attractive by-product from food industry.
Applied at low temperature with the ProBlue Flex Melters from Nordson, Kizen Lime is claimed to provide additional energy and costs savings compared to other adhesives, in particular conventional fossil-based adhesives used with former melter generations. Nordson Adhesive Dispensing Systems are known for their ultra-precise dispensing accuracy, reliability and efficiency, making them essential for automatic packaging lines. Key products include the ProBlue Flex Melter and MiniBlue II Slim Applicators. Customers who integrate advanced Nordson technologies into their packaging line are said to increase their efficiency and support their sustainability goals to reduce environmental impacts.
Kizen packaging products are hotmelts with 100% solid content and free of both solvent and water. They are designed to provide a tamper-evident sealing by fibre tearing of cardboard packaging. The consumer gets the confirmation, by the seal, that the packaging has not been opened since it was closed at the brand owner’s plant.
Kizen is claimed to fulfil the most demanding requirements of fast-moving consumer goods for adhesives. It can contribute to lowering carbon footprint of customers, while still complying with safety standards and efficiency for brand owners and industrial partners.
“At Bostik we have a unique innovative model in the adhesive industry focusing on sustainability improvements. We are part of a specialty material group, Arkema, who committed to a more sustainable future with near-term, SBTI-approved targets and communicated its ambition to reach towards Net Zero by 2050, meaning -90% GHG emissions for scope 1, 2 and 3. Kizen Lime represents an important milestone providing both high technical and sustainable performances to our customers,” Pascal Peroni, (pictured) global strategic marketing director at Bostik.
