Löffler joined the company in 1994 and played a decisive role in shaping it. As chief financial officer, he was responsible for the finance, controlling and legal divisions until his death.
Löffler's areas of responsibility will now be taken over on an interim basis by the four remaining members of company management: Michael W. and Wilhelm A. Böllhoff, Dr Cathrin Wesch-Potente and Dr Jens Bunte.
Wilhelm A. Böllhoff said: "With Dr Carsten Löffler, we have lost our highly esteemed CFO, a valued person and an important backbone of our company. We are deeply saddened and remain grateful for his contribution. Our thoughts are now with his family, his friends and all the people in our company who worked with him."
