With 66,500 square feet of space added for material storage, production, quality assurance and shipping, the new building almost doubled the previous manufacturing footprint of Boker’s South Minneapolis headquarters, to over 165,000 square feet. In particular, the larger area to inventory raw material enables the company to expedite orders and shorten delivery times for short-, medium-, or long-runs. It has access to more than 2,000 commonly specified and hard-to-find materials, including metallic, non-metallic and super alloys.

For over 100 years, Boker’s has been providing precision stampings, washers, spacers and shims. The increased space in the new facility has also created opportunities to scale and grow, integrating new technologies to address the product diversification of their customers.

In addition, the new structure provided the opportunity to layout our manufacturing processes linearly, facilitate in-house secondary machining operations, and provide an expanded area to accommodate improved workflow for packing and order fulfilment.

Tony Kersey, Boker’s communications manager, said: “Team members have expressed an appreciation for the more streamlined manufacturing space and are experiencing the positive impact on project workflow.  Coming out of the pandemic, everyone here has worked hard to significantly reduce lead times and exceed customer on-time deliveries, and now, most orders ship in two weeks or less.”
