Washer development cuts cost of screw locking

1 min read

The recently launched Ripp Lock washer combines all the benefits of traditional screw lockings and washers with some newly developed features.

As a universal product, it can be used in many applications, particularly where high demands are made on safety and the reduction of parts. According to its manufacturer, Böllhoff, the washer is a sensible alternative and a cheaper option to many of its competitors. Ripp Lock washers are provided with radial ribs on both sides. The pitch angle of the rib is larger than the thread pitch and therefore provides an positive locking effect. The disks are made of steel with a hardness of 350-500 HV with a zinc flake surface treatment coating. The corrosion resistance is 480 h against white rust. When the screw or nut is assembled, the radial ribs of lock washers closely emboss in the counter-surface and in the underside of the screw head. Therefore, there can only be relative movement in the separation gap between screw head and washer, even under extreme vibration or dynamic stress. Due to their high hardness, the washers can be used with screws of virtually all property classes.
