Mechanical screw lock suits high demand applications

1 min read

The RIPP Lock washer is a new product in the field of mechanical screw locks, which combines many individual benefits of existing screw lockings and washers but can be used in many applications especially where high demands are made on the safety and parts reduction.

Manufactured by Bollhoff Direct, RIPP Lock washers have radial ribs on both sides and the pitch angle of the rib is larger than the thread pitch to produce a locking effect. The disks are made of steel with a hardness of 350-500 HV and for the surface treatment a zinc flake coating is used. The corrosion resistance is 480 h against white rost. When the screw or nut is assembled, the radial ribs flow into the counter-surface and the underside of the screw head so that there can only be relative movement in the separation gap between screw head and washer. The product has proved to be a reliable screw lock even under extreme vibration or dynamic stress and because of their high hardness, the washers can be used with screws with a wide variety of property classes. Bollhoff GmbH (UK Division) will be exhibiting at the forthcoming FAST Exhibition, being held on the 21st October 2010 at the National Motorcycle Museum Birmingham. Visitors will be able to discuss specific applications on the stand.
