Why the right band edge can make all the difference on a hose clamp

1 min read

Our rounded band edges ensure JCS clamps won’t cut into the hose pipes they secure. Here at JCS we like to say that the difference is in the detail and by that we mean that, although to the untrained eye one hose clamp might look the same as another, there are a number of subtle but crucial differences to our products that make them, we believe, more reliable and fit for purpose than any other brand on the market.

By that we mean that, although to the untrained eye one hose clamp might look the same as another, there are a number of subtle but crucial differences to our products that make them, we believe, more reliable and fit for purpose than any other brand on the market.

Rounded band material

A case in point are the band edges (i.e. outside edges of the clamp band) found on JCS hose clamps and clips. The steel material we buy-in has been pre-prepared, so that all the band edges on our products are rounded to give the best protection to the hoses they secure. This is in contrast to many other manufacturers who cut the steel in situ, leaving burrs and rough edging.

Fit for purpose

This difference is vitally important, especially when using clamps to secure soft-walled hoses, as a sharp edge can cut into the hose and lead to leakages and tears. In fact, all hoses can be affected particularly if they are in a location where there is a constant vibration, for example from a pump, which over time will cause the sharp band edge to cut in.

Hose clamps do an important job

Often hose clamps are relied upon to do an important job – holding in place fuel, air and waste lines that are crucial to the operation of important machinery.

Whatever you use your hose clamps for, why leave anything to chance? Make sure you chose a brand where the important details have been taken care of.
