The Compression Drop T is a truly revolutionary design. It takes the traditional Drop T latch and reworks it from first principles, greatly improving both function and appearance to make this latch fit for the 21st century.

This ingenious latch comes from Weston's driMET range, a series of products created to handle the harshest of environmental conditions. The Compression Drop T latch now has features to handle almost anything. This latch has proven its power after under-going vigorous testing including 240 hours of salt spray as well as an accelerated life cycle of 25,000 cycles. The Compression Drop T featuring driMET is UV stable and can operate in conditions from -18° to +80°C. driMET's clever use of seal design and fitment ensures the best possible join between the latch and the enclosure. By eliminating any apertures in the casing of the product, driMET has produced a product that is not only weatherproof, but will meet the requirements of outdoor enclosures. The innovation here comes not just from the lock being part of the driMET range, but the IP65 rated latch offers up to 4mm of compression tight against the seal. It's over centre 'toggle' mechanism enables increased sturdiness in a pressure-applied situation, even at speeds of up to 70mph. Perfect when fitted to commercial vehicles and enclosures. The development process has explored the opportunity to improve and simplify the function and action of the Compression Drop T. The padlock facility is easy to use, and does not impede access to the handle, providing better ergonomics for opening with gloved hands. Its robust yet sleek shape will compliment any modern styling with the choices of black or chrome handle. The Compression Drop T can include multipoint compression of up to 8ft, and an electronic version is in development. Weston are further developing the Compression Drop T to include a key-less latch that only padlocks, as well as the forthcoming blind-mount eliminating fixings being seen on the casing.
