Replacing traditional captive screws

1 min read

Snap-Line fasteners, a new line from Dirak, securely join two metal panels and can be used anywhere standard fasteners are used.

Multiple options are available, but one variation in particular makes an ideal replacement for traditional captive screw and nut applications commonly found on 19 inch racks in the telecommunications and computer industries. The captive fasteners offer direct advantages over traditional screw and nut applications. They can be installed without tools or hardware so there is no need to purchase expensive installation equipment. They eliminate the concern of mounting hardware becoming loose and falling onto sensitive electronic equipment and simplify the supply chain as the OEM does not need to specify the fastener early in the design phase nor manage a complex global supplier network. The fasteners feature D-Snap technology, which ensures a secure, vibration resistant attachment to the panel while eliminating the need for tools and mounting hardware. They are installed simply by pushing the fastener through the panel cutout and an optional spring facilitates easy removal. Both captive and non-captive fasteners are available.
