1 min read

A new battery tool claimed ideal for low volume applications has been introduced by sheet metal fastening specialist, Profil (UK).

The company says its new battery powered handgun extends the versatility of its pierce and rivet assembly systems because it capable of installing M6 or M8 anchor studs and nuts in materials up to 3.00 mm thick without being connected to services. The portable installation tool has a maximum setting force of six tonnes and will be useful for low volume production applications, as well as prototype assemblies and vehicle repair work. It is also suitable for general sheet metal fabrication, heating, ventilation and ducting, domestic appliance manufacture, building industry, agricultural equipment, electrical enclosures, ship building and furniture applications. Measuring 440 mm long by 430 mm high, the handgun's easily adjusted setting load and foolproof setting action ensure correct material piercing and fastener installation under all conditions. The tool will set up to 200 nuts or studs from a single battery charge and can be fully recharged in around 30 minutes. "With the ability to self pierce and set up to M8 fasteners, the new handgun caters for around 80% of all our fastening products," claimed Profil UK's sales manager, Adrian Ellis. "Through its versatility and ease of use, I am confident it will open up the benefits of pierce fastening to many new sectors of manufacturing industry." Come and meet Profil (UK) at the Fastening & Assembly Solutions Exhibition, 11th March 2010, at the RAF Museum Hendon.
