Moisture-cure elastic adhesive

The 1530 one-part, non-solvent elastic adhesive is being promoted by ThreeBond.

"Its main component is a silyl-based special polymer which reacts rapidly upon exposure to moisture in the air and cures to a toughened elastomer", explains Mick Beeson, ThreeBond. "As there are no solvents or plasticisers in the adhesive it shows excellent non-staining characteristics and can be painted over." Other benefits detailed by the company include weather resistance, high adhesion strength to most substrates without the need for primer pre-treatment, and low odour. "It is suitable for the multi-purpose bonding of metals, plastics, wood, glass, rubbers, and canvas." The product also can be used for the sealing and potting of electronic/electrical assemblies. "No low-molecular siloxanes areproduced during curing so the adhesive will not corrode metals or impair electrical contacts", reports Mick Beeson.
