Gel filled enclosure system for extreme environments

Spelsberg has enhanced its Abox extreme environment gel filled enclosure system with a new gel formulation that offers improved performance and is easier to use than existing products.
Abox Magic GT provides an extremely durable solution for protecting the electrical components inside the enclosure from the ingress of water, soil, sand and grit. The IP68 rated system offers complete protection in the most demanding of environments, while assuring ease of re-use.
The enhanced GT gel is based on cast resin technology and is halogen-free, delivering an easy to use, environmentally friendly, high performance protection solution. The Abox enclosures range in size from 80x80x52mm to 140x140x79mm, and will handle cable cross sections from 1.5 to 10mm2. They can be filled with the cast resin gel cleanly and tidily using the handy mixer bag. Once cured, the gel-filled enclosures offer assured ingress protection, are shock and fracture-proof, UV-resistant and exhibit low flammability.
The system has been tested to DIN EN60 529, IP68, to provide complete protection from ingress of water, even at depths of water to 15m for up to 168 hours. The gel-filled enclosures provide protection in both water and soil, with typical areas of use including flooded areas, washing machines, tunnels and docks. In extreme cases, the Abox Magic GT series will even withstand ingress from stagnant water.
