Combatting vibration and noise

Many access panels are subject to vibration, noise or both.

A range of environments require such sound proofing: kitchen ventilation, transport and machine operation in food packaging or bespoke built machines.

When a design works well, it is more efficient and provides a better user experience, with the right part for an engineer’s purpose. Recently, Wixroyd worked with a pet transport company to provide a secure lock for travelling enclosures. An easy, ergonomic handle was needed and it was essential the locker did not fall open on the journey. With its raised trigger and levered handle and key providing security, the company’s A1707’s adjustable grip means the level of compression can be quickly adjusted as needed.

Wixroyd also helped a large food packaging company with stainless cam locks that allow quick and easy access to panels for food inspection. Conveyors on the machine created constant noise and vibration, and the panel had to stay closed and provide a measure of soundproofing. In this case, the A1601 compression latch proved to be the answer. It has a mechanism that provides 6mm of compression to secure the latch in position. Its IP54 rating guarded against ingress of material near the food and so the possibility of contamination. Its square insert actuation meant it was quick and easy to open.
