ReelFast® Surface Mount Fasteners for PCB Assembly
ReelFast® from PEM® consists of a range of threaded nuts, standoffs, panel fasteners and right angle fasteners all of which are supplied on standard sized tape and reel suitable for use with the same equipment you use to populate the rest of the printed circuit board. Standard thread sizes for nuts and standoffs is M2 to M4, by using microPEM® parts thread sizes can be as small as M1. Panel fasteners can be supplied with M3 or M3.5 threads and the R’Angle® right angle mounting bracket comes with M2 to M4 threads. Using surface mount parts means that no mounting hardware is actually handled during the manufacturing process which increases product throughput and improves quality.
No special hole preparation is required and the fasteners are securely and permanently attached to the circuit board during the flow solder process. All ReelFast® fasteners are tin plated, RoHS compliant and compatible with current flow solder chemistry and standard pick and place machinery.

Reelfast SMTSS Snap top Standoffs
The latest addition to the Reelfast family is the SMTSS which is a snap top standoff. New PEM® SMTSS™ Fasteners hold printed circuit boards securely in assemblies without the need for additional mating screws or other loose threaded hardware to complete attachment. SMTSS unthreaded standoffs help to streamline production by simply installing in boards in the same manner and at the same time as other surface mount components prior to the automated reflow solder process. The mating board is then easily and securely snapped into place without any tools. SMTSS standoffs reduce assembly costs and enable precise and reliable mounting and spacing of boards using less hardware and fewer operations.
As with all Reelfast parts SMTSS standoffs are supplied on tape and reel compatible with existing SMT automated installation equipment.
PEM SMTSSS standoffs are manufactured from carbon steel and are available in imperial lengths 1/4″ or .3/8″ and metric lengths 6mm, 8mm, or 10mm. They will install readily install in any standard printed circuit boards from as little as 1.53mm thick without any special preparation other than provision of a solder pad on the board.

PEM Micro Fasteners for Miniature Electronic Assembly
As electronic assemblies continue to get smaller so the mechanical fixings have to cater for this. The PEM Micro range offers nuts, standoffs, Tack screws, pins and inserts for plastics all in micro sizes. Using PEM technology the use of these parts simplifies assembly and reduces the time required.

PEM Broaching Fasteners for PCB Assembly
For lower volume applications PEM also has a full range of broaching and flaring fasteners which can be installed with a simple press. The range includes nuts, standoffs, snap Top standoffs, panel fasteners, SpotFast rivets and the PEM heat sink mounting system.
