TOOL DRIVE FOR ORPHANAGE TRAINING CENTRE

1 min read

Employees from Kennametal EMEA have been busy in a tool drive to collect equipment for the training centre of the Nice View orphanage in Kenya.

Hand tools and accessories of all kind have been collected, which are used in the training centre for carpenters. Altogether, 110 kg of tools and accessories as well as 192 Euro monetary donations have been collected and donated to the association Schwarz-Weiß eV. Marcel Dürr, treasurer for the association was very pleased with this result: "We are very happy about this initiative. The tools are very useful for us in Nice View, as the materials are not very long-living here due to the high air humidity." "It is very important for us to support education as foundation for a self-dependent life. We foster education in our company as well as in different projects and through cooperation in the communities we live and work in." said Joost Berting, Kennametal's vice president and managing director EMEA and Asia-Pacific. Kennametal engages for social institutions globally. Volunteering is a key component of the company's philosophy. In line with it, social associations are supported through monetary donations and donations in kind as well as through active participation of our employees on a voluntary basis. During the last fiscal year about 2400 volunteer hours have been completed by Kennametal volunteers. Schwarz-Weiß e.V. is a children aid project that supports Africa's orphans. The overall concept is to provide them with everything they need, from being a small baby up until independence including medical care and a profound training. More information can be found on.
