Adhesive tapes specialist tesa has had another outstanding year in 2013-4 with its international businesses chalking up an impressive 3.4% year on year sales increase, The company has reported.

Thomas Schlegel, CEO of tesa SE, attributes the results to "the development of new products and technologies; new, attractive business segments and the consistent expansion of our structures in the growth regions." In tesa UK, the mood is equally buoyant with the domestic business outperforming the company average. tesa UK managing director, Stephen Hauber (pictured) said that tesa's record on innovation – 50% of its sales are from products launched in the last five years – is a major factor. "In the UK we have also pioneered the concept of tesacohesion, an all-embracing programme which involves people, products, processes and performance and provides customers with a service designed to deliver a competitive edge to their own business," Hauber added. "In addition, the last twelve months have seen the expansion of the ACXplus range and the marketing of Lift & Reseal, a revolutionary approach to resealing food for freshness and longevity." The ACXplus high performance range is based on a special feature called viscoelasticity – the elastic restoring forces providing inner strength which, when combined with the viscous material characteristics that provide relaxation of mechanical stresses, deliver what tesa calls 'intelligent bonding'. The product is gaining ground across a broadening range of industries including acoustic panels and doors for end users in sectors such as broadcasting, automotive and aerospace. Lift & Reseal has enjoyed spectacular growth since its introduction as an efficient in-line application of tape on snack packaging and providing a resealable medium that guarantees product freshness through its life. Lift & Reseal can now be found on own-brand products in Sainsbury's and Tesco. Hauber concluded: "The success of Lift & Reseal is an example of the tesacohesion approach which has contributed so much to our recent sales growth. We worked over a period of time, developing and refining the product along with key customers, until we knew we had the right solution. We are prepared to go that extra mile for the customer and it does pay dividends. tesa's growth, which far outstrips any industry norms, can be attributed to the strong relationship we have with our customers and our willingness to build business over a number of years."
