Silicone contact adhesive found new role in lamination

Momentive PSA529 and PSA6573A liquid silicone contact adhesives have recently been developed for a new purpose: laminating surfaces.

They are more commonly known for their abilities as pressure-sensitive adhesives in component bonding applications. They have been designed to maintain flexibility and adhesion in tough environmental conditions in general assembly applications.

PSA529 is a high-performance silicone contact adhesive which is often chosen in applications where other adhesives and bonding options have failed. It can be applied using a brush or a roller.

According to Momentive, distributed in the UK by Techsil, it is turning out to be an excellent candidate for use in laminating and assembly applications that require resistance to high temperatures (up to 200°C).

PSA6573A is from the same family as PSA529, however offers more shear strength and a higher pouring viscosity. This grade becomes aggressively pressure-sensitive at 93°C, however is almost tack-free at room temperature.
