BM TRADA has been selected by a Stanley Black & Decker company, Stanley Bostitch, to test a broad range of fasteners intended for the European market.

With CE marking compulsory for many construction products since the introduction of the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) on 1 July 2013, Bostitch has been working extensively to apply a CE mark to many of its nail and staple ranges. BM TRADA has been selected as a preferred partner for conducting initial type testing to ensure that every product meets the requirements of EN 14592: 2008: Timber structure: Dowel-type fasteners: Requirements. The programme involves checking the geometry of each nail type, as well as conducting a variety of tests to ascertain the yield moment; withdrawal and head pull-through resistance and tensile capacity. The nails and staples were divided into several product types and tested in sequence to meet the scheduling priorities of Bostitch. Products undergoing testing include plain, ringed, spiral, and screw shank bright nails, in various sizes. Galvanised and stainless nail variations were also tested, as well as round head, D head and notched head geometries and the 4mm ringshank electro-galvanised MCN.
