SEALANTS SYSTEM FEATURES FORMULATION FLEXIBILITY

Hodgson Sealants has completed a hybrid sealant manufacturing system at its East Yorkshire facility. This project comes hot on the heels of a purpose built in house laboratory, recently completed at the site, which has enabled the company to focus on testing substrates and formulating sealants and adhesives tailored to customer requirements.

Beverley based Hodgson Sealants hybrid polymer mixing machine and cartridge filling line has been installed to support growing sales of hybrid sealants and adhesives, the company says. The mixing machine features variable speed mixing blades, which allows the flexibility and versatility to mix a range of sealants and adhesives with varying characteristics such as elasticity, high initial tack and high adhesive strength as well as offering the ability to mix a range of colours to match substrates. Hodgson Sealants specialises in sealants and adhesives based on silicone, hybrid, acrylic and butyl technologies. The bespoke new filling line offers improved run rates and therefore shorter lead times with the ability to fill 290ml through to 400ml fill cartridge sizes. The new machine has brought excitement to the Hodgson facility as well as extra jobs. Charles Hodgson, managing director, commented: "We have a strategy of broadening our technology base to appeal to a wider range of customer markets. This investment in mixing and filling equipment takes us right up to date with the most innovative technology available in the market today." Hodgson Sealants' new laboratory was installed in late 2013 as part of a new strategy to help the company get closer to its customers and offer a more personal service which differentiates the company from its competitors. The facility is used to develop new products, such as the hybrid range of sealants, and also test customers' substrates to make sure they are using the right products for the right application. Also included in this service offering is a free audit of customer's production processes to establish what products match the application requirement and maximise outputs for customers. Technical support is an integral part of the Hodgson service offering via its customer partnership programme. Hodgson Sealants was established in 1968 and caters for a wide range of market sectors, including caravan, leisure and transportation, modular buildings, general construction, industrial roofing and cladding, glass, glazing and joinery. The company prides itself on consistent product quality and its ability to tailor solutions to its customers' needs. Hodgson actively encourages its customers to visit the plant and see their substrate testing and facilities on offer for themselves.
