Medical electronics coating is LED curable

1 min read

Intertronics has introduced the DYMAX MD 1901-M LED-curable coating for medical micro circuits of the type used in hearing aids, wound-care devices and medical pumps. The product's ability to be tack free immediately after curing helps prevent defects that could occur as a result of components being handled too soon.

Dependent on the application, sterilisation methods for the system can be gamma irradiation and ethylene oxide or autoclaving,. Typical applications include coating of medical micro circuits, also sealing and moisture barriers encompassing substrates such as glass, FR-4, metal, ceramic, glass filled epoxy, CAP, PS, TPU and aluminium. The product's cytotoxicity has been approved as a medical grade electronics coating, seal, or moisture barrier. This low-durometer, flexible coating is suited to use on flex-circuits due to its ability to resist cracking or delamination while the board is being flexed. The coating's secondary heat-cure capability ensures a complete cure for areas that may be shadowed from the light source. Coupled with a suitable LED curing system users can achieve cooler cures and extend the cure capabilities of thermally sensitive substrates. The ability to cure in seconds using LED systems enables faster processing, greater output, and lower production costs by delivering optimum speed and performance for medical device assembly. The coating is in full compliance with the RoHS Directives.
